International students' desire for more local friends has been a persistent research finding. And condensed curricula have meant limited global citizenship opportunities for domestic students.
Our in-person events facilitate cross-sector connection and knowledge-sharing, enhancing your organisation’s international education program and further developing your own professional practice.
Upon successful completion of these modules, you will receive a digital badge that can be shared with a school, education provider, or colleagues as evidence of formal training.
ISANA NZ training is distinguished by evidence-based content, independent critique, and specialised tools that support intercultural competencies for cross-border learners. See some of our signature offerings here: SAIL, CRISP, TIP, Code Symposiums and the International Education Research Forum.
Over 40 pages are available to members, one-third are public access. These practical resources and tools were developed in collaboration with Education New Zealand Manapou ki te Ao (ENZ) to assist practitioners in supporting international learner wellbeing.

For the first time in the short history of Aotearoa’s international education sector, no generic industry funding is available to support supply-side services. Canada’s and Australia’s post-pandemic industries hit the speed wobbles, and jurisdictions in both countries moved to cap international student numbers. The sector in Aotearoa is at a critical juncture. By ‘mucking in’ together, we are better equipped to serve the unique adjustment needs of all cross-border learners.
Your membership helps sustain a strong, informed, and connected professional community dedicated to international learner success, the availability of specialised professional development, and independent advocacy for cross-border learners.
We look forward to welcoming you (and your institution) into ISANA NZ’s community of practice.
Trusted by schools, universities, and training providers across NZ.
